Some 25 years ago, the Institute began the in-house publication of its research findings in a number of discrete series. These publications have been redesigned and now appear as a coordinated set within the Schriftenreihe des Max-Planck-Instituts für ausländisches und internationales Strafrecht [Research Series of the Max Planck Institute for Foreign and International Criminal Law]. The decision to take this step reflects the increased collaboration between the Department of Criminal Law and the Department of Criminology.
The series Strafrechtliche Forschungsberichte [Reports on Research in Criminal Law] published under the editorship of Ulrich Sieber is a continuation of Beiträge und Materialien (established by Albin Eser). A publication forum of the Department of Criminal Law, it appears alongside the series Kriminologische Forschungsberichte [Reports on Research in Criminology], which dates back to 1980. The publication of the time-honored Sammlung ausländischer Strafgesetzbücher in deutscher Übersetzung [Collection of Foreign Criminal Laws in German Translation] and the Interdisziplinäre Forschungen aus Strafrecht und Kriminologie [Interdisciplinary Reports on Research in Criminal Law and Criminology] continues as well.
These four series of the Schriftenreihe des Max-Planck-Instituts für ausländisches und internationales Strafrecht are marketed in close cooperation with the publisher Duncker & Humblot, Berlin, and can be acquired either directly from the Institute or from Duncker & Humblot.
The other two series, Arbeitsberichte [Working Papers] and forschung aktuell | research in brief, present preliminary research findings or findings in summarized form and can only be obtained from the Institute itself.
Results of research conducted at the Max Planck Institute for Foreign and International Criminal Law may also appear in external publications.
